Niigata Rice Tasting 2014

The 2nd Niigata Rice Tasting event successfully took place at the Concorde Hotel on 1st August 2014 with four rice producers introduced different types of rice such as the renowned Koshihikari, Koshi Ibuki, Emi no Kizuna and Yukinko Mai. Others include six processing food companies, two Japanese confectioneries and one craft beer marker had their products showcased to participants who were mainly local importers, distributors and restaurateurs.

 

 

Master Chef Takuma Seki of Japanese fine dining restaurant, IKYU, was also present, whipping up culinary magic with the rice and prepared in several different styles such as Saffron Rice, Wappa-Meshi, Takikomi Gohan and more. Sushi was also prepared by chefs from Japanese restaurant, Tomi Sushi, using Niigata Koshihikari and Emi no Kizuna rice and the latter is the type of rice specially used for sushi.

 

The Niigata Rice Tasting Event in Singapore was organised by Niigata Prefectural Government and Niigata Industrial Creation Organization (NICO).
