HIBIKIYA reaches out to the Singapore society with its rich Japanese cultural activities through performances, events and workshops like Taiko 太鼓 (Japanese drum) and mask dances which include Shishimai 獅子舞 (Japanese lion dance), Hyottoko 火男 and others.

On Sunday 29 March, Hibikiya will be hosting their annual concert, Hibiki 5, a fifth edition, to showcase dynamic display of Japanese Taiko drum and performances by Japanese guest, Sukeroku Taiko, and local artist group, NADI Singapura. This year concert will be held at Japanese Association of Singapore to mark its 100 Anniversary as well as SG50 celebration.

One highlight of the event includes Oedo Sukeroku Taiko 大江戸助六太鼓, leads by Seido Kobayashi, is the total combination of art, sports and music. Based on Bon Taiko techniques and Kabuki music, the group has succeeded to sublimate Wa-Taiko music from local folk art to a stage performing art.
