Presenting Japan's traditional culture as world pop culture, UNIQLO will be collaborating with Shochiku Co. to launch the 'Shochiku Kabuki X Uniqlo Project' through Kabuki and clothes. Popular Kabuki performer, Ichikawa Ennosuke IV, will be appointed as the Project ambassador to transmit the culture to people around the world.

Shochiku Kabuki, a type of traditional Japanese performance art originated in the Edo period (1603 - 1868), was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2005 and remains popular today. The collaboration will see Shochiku promoting Kabuki culture and producing Kabuki performances while clothing is designed by Uniqlo's UT (UNIQLO T-shirts) creative director NIGO.

Stay tuned for the 'Shochiku Kabuki X Uniqlo Project' product lineup and short film on 19 March...
