Goodbye for now… Tokyu Plaza Shibuya 東急プラザ 渋谷

After 49 years, the popular Tokyu Plaza Shibuya 東急プラザ 渋谷 near Shibuya Station in Shibuya ward 渋谷区, Tokyo, will be officially closed at 6.00pm today due to the land redevelopment around the area. The 9-storey building with two basements was previously known as Shibuya Tokyu Biru and was opened in 1965 for commercial and retail purposes.

 

Since the announcement of the building demolition, a number of retail stores have been holding special sales from January and a 13-days photos gallery installation was also held to showcase the history and future plans of Shibuya area.

 

The new building is expected to complete in 2018 with 18 storeys and 4 basements. Goodbye for now…
