WA-SHOKU ~ Beyond Sushi ~

As part of Japanese film festival 2015 and Japan Creative Centre's JCC Cinema programme for July, the movie, WA-SHOKU ~ Beyond Sushi ~, will be screening at Gallery Theatre, National Museum of Singapore, on Sunday July 26 at 2pm. Directed by Junichi Suzuki, this 107 minutes Japanese film comes with English subtitles and is PG rated.

 

 

Film Synopsis: 

Today, many people of different ethnicities visit Japanese restaurants and enjoy both the taste and culture of Japanese cuisine, known as Wa-shoku. This feature documentary WA-SHOKU ~Beyond Sushi~ directed by award-winning director Junichi Suzuki aims to show the past and future of Wa-shoku, not just Sushi, through the passionate story behind a group of men and women who dedicated their lives in preserving and promoting it in America to rest of the world. They include Noritoshi Kanai (Chairman of Mutual Trading Co., Inc.), Nobu Matsuhisa (chef and owner of Nobu restaurants), Katsuya Uechi (chef and owner of Katsu-ya group), Tyson Cole (chef and owner of Uchi restaurant), Joel Robuchon (French chef) and many more.

 

 

This movie screening does not accept RSVP or advance booking. Complimentary tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 1:00pm, limited to 2 tickets per pax.
