My Father is the Grand Master

In commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of Enshu Sado School at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Japan Creative Centre (JCC), Embassy of Japan in Singapore will be screening "My Father is the Grand Master" 父は家元 (Rated G), the first ever documentary on the art of Japanese tea ceremony that features 'wabi-sabi' and the spirit of 'omotenashi', as well as the life and work of Mr Sojitsu Kobori, the 13th Grand Master of the Enshu Sado School, over the span of 3 years.

 

The Grand Master Mr Kobori, who came from Japan especially for this celebration, will also be present at the cinema screening to hold the exclusive sharing session after the documentary where audiences will not only have the opportunity to understand more about Japanese tea, but also be able to experience the actual ceremony as each audience will be served with a bowl of tea!

 

Directed by Hiroki Takano 高野裕規, the screening of "My Father is the Grand Master" will also be held at the National University of Singapore on Friday, 21 August 2015 from 6.30pm to 8.00pm while tea serving will commence from 5.00pm.

 

As seating is limited, seats will be confirmed only upon receipt of confirmation email from JCC and interested participants are required to send their particulars to jcc@sn.mofa.go.jp with the subject JCC CINEMA 36: MY FATHER IS THE GRAND MASTER.
