Asakusa Samba Carnival Parade 「浅草サンバカーニバル」

If you are travelling to Tokyo this weekend, this could be your opportunity to visit Japan’s largest carnival parade in Asakusa 浅草 district. The 34th Asakusa Samba Carnival which is one of the Asia's largest sambal carnivals will be taking place this week on 29 August 2015.

 

The parade was first held in 1981 and the annual event has been attracting almost half a million of local visitors and visiting tourist. The Japanese version of the samba carnival took off successfully with the influence from the role model of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival in Brazil.

Location: Walking distance from Tawaramachi Station and Asakusa Station
