Japan Robot Taxi - COOL concept

Japan is launching a "Robot Taxi", self-driving taxi service, by next year with the aim to have thousands of fleet in service for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. The taxi service is a joint venture between DeNA, Japan Mobile and Internet provider, and ZMP, Japan robotic firm, in realizing of robot taxi business utilizing the automatic operation technology.

 

The robot taxi which is currently in development will launch its demonstration experiment in Kanagawa Prefecture.  The company's aim to introduce such taxi services is to tackle Japan’s increasingly elderly population, labour shortage and profitability
