Also known as Shogatsu 正月, New Year in Japan is one of the most celebrated events in most cities and urban areas across Japan which include concerts, countdowns, fireworks and parties.

Traditional activities on New Year in Japan include the Hatsumode 初詣 where locals visit local temples or shrines on the first, second, or third day of the year. As midnight approaches, temples or shrines around the country begin sounding the temple bell 108 times to usher the New Year.

With local time differences, Japan is among the first few countries to welcome the New Year. You can also watch the LIVE Japan’s New Year Fireworks around Tokyo Tower Stream Online when the clock struck midnight (Singapore time 11.00pm) from http://www.tokyotower.co.jp/livecamera/index.html or www.earthcam.com/japan/tokyo.

Enjoy the beauty and excitement of firework, Happy New Year 2016!

Greeting from HaiJapan.
